Purchasing Money Orders

It has been reported to this office that some money orders are being bought from convenience stores, and other stores that provide money orders are being returned to the bank, which makes your rent not being paid. Recently, we had an issue with the money orders that were purchased from the Discount Tobacco Shop that were returned to the bank. We recommend that you buy your money orders from a trustworthy establishment.

Below is a list of trustworthy establishments available:

• United States Post Office
• Banks (Regions, Gibsland, b1Bank, and Capital One)
• Brookshire's
• Consumer Value Stores (CVS)
• Walmart

Please use caution when buying money orders. If you buy a money order and encounter a problem, it is your responsibility to have the establishment to clear up the matter. Please completely fill out the money order and keep your receipt/stub as proof of purchase.
